Our Story

Kick Out Racism is an online Facebook campaign by the students of Sunway College in the Diploma program. Our aim with this page is to raise awareness about the topic of racism in Malaysia as well as internationally. We would like to use this platform to further understand the concept of racism, what is it, what it can look like and how we can come together and kick out racism.

We strongly believe that we can use this opportunity to reach as many people as possible and raise awareness about the often overlooked topic of racism even before the discriminating and xenophobic behaviors in the midst of the current global pandemic (COVID-19). Those acts has motivated us more in our attempt to Kick Out Racism.

While this started as an assignment for one of our subjects, with the global pandemic that is the COVID-19, discrimination against groups of people that has been associated with transmitters have risen in numbers. This has led to racial discrimination primarily targeted towards the different communities that has had contact or suspected contact with the virus (the Chinese communities, the Muslim communities all of over the world and more recently racism towards foreigners in Mainland China).

We hope through the sharing of our class’s experiences and what we think could be solutions, we could do our part in kicking out racism in our community.
