DC's Race Car will also be at MGF30
This original MGF Cup car from 1998 was purchased by MG dealer Premier Motors of Romford, Essex. Nigel Reuben raced the car in the inaugural season wearing the number 12. Round 1 is best forgotten, with Nigel failing to finish the race, after being caught up in another competitor’s spin. However, the season improved, and Nigel’s best result was a podium finish at Thruxton in September. He finished the Championship in a very creditable 7th overall.

Bill Stillwell took the wheel in 1999, racing as number 55. The MGF had a starring role in an edition of the BBC’s “A Question of Sport”. Olympian Darren Campbell was the ‘Mystery Guest’, carrying out a wheel change on the car. It missed the 2000 season, spending the time on display in the Premier Motors showroom, before being sold to Goff Holmes in 2001. Goff raced in the MG Trophy, winning his class outright in 2006.

Goff sold the car to David Coulthard, who restored it to back to its 1998 specification. The car now races in the MGCC Cockshoot Cup and will be out at MG-Fest North, at Croft circuit, over the weekend of 6th and 7th September, and we are grateful to David for displaying the car on our Show Sunday.
