What fantastic reviews, not that we’d expect anything less! We are so delighted that 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿Charlie Lovell-Jones - Violinist has agreed to return to the Llandeilo Fawr Festival of Music.

What a month it’s been for our Walton album! I’m over the moon with the responses to our work, including a Gramophone Editor’s Choice, featuring on BBC Radio 3 Record Review, and even topping the specialist classical chart 🤯

Here are some snippets from the lovely reviews:

Geraint Lewis, Gramophone: “even the most dazzling passages are quicksilver in brilliance and not attention-seeking in a flashy sense. [The] lyrical impulse is sensitively maintained throughout and unified the score’s symphonic underpinning with unobtrusive mastery.”

James Longstaffe, Presto Music (Recording of the Week): “Lovell-Jones despatches every technical demand thrown at him with apparent ease… some dazzlingly jaw-dropping moments from Lovell-Jones… with a terrific searching tone…”

Richard Fairman, Financial Times (5*): “There is more competition among recordings here, but soloist Charlie Lovell-Jones and Wilson have quicksilver virtuosity and orchestral clarity on their side.”

Terry Blain, BBC Music Magazine: “Lovell-Jones brings a singing intensity of tone… signalling a strong, focused interpretive temperament. … Lovell-Jones’ sharp-edged virtuosity brings both combustibility and caprice to the mercurial middle movement.”

Andrew Palmer, Yorkshire Times: “Lovell-Jones delivers a tremendous performance, exhibiting a beautifully full-bodied tone and exhilarating technique. … The vehemence and excitement of his playing prove utterly captivating.”

Ian Orbell, Classical Music Sentinel: “… I would have no hesitation in choosing this as one of the most recommended performances [of Walton Violin Concerto]…”

David Hurwitz, The Ultimate Classical Music Guide: “Charlie Lovell-Jones is a terrific violinist.”

I’ve felt quite emotional reading these reviews, and I’m so bloody grateful. Pop over to your favourite streaming platform and give it a listen! 🥳
