A Very Big Thank You — 36th Annual Wyoming Peach Festival
Good morning, DelMarVa!
August 1st marked our 36th Annual Wyoming Peach Festival, and I have hundreds of people to thank. The festival simply could not happen without the incredible people who give their time, energy, and support to make it such a success.
The Peach Festival Committee — our work begins in March and doesn’t really crash to a halt until the middle of August! Without your ideas, hard work, dedication, and drive, this event would not be possible. We start as early as 6:00 a.m., getting more than 160 crafters and vendors to their sites, clearing the roads of vehicles, welcoming 8,000–10,000 guests, and then closing everything down and cleaning up. If you drive through Wyoming after 5:00 p.m., you may see a dumpster and a port-a-potty sitting along the roadside and never know what it took to make the day happen!
Tracy, Julia, Jane, and Michael — thank you for setting up, running, and manning the raffle and resale tent all day. It could only be accomplished through your hard work and dedication.
Audrey — thank you for getting the dessert judges together and manning the Dessert Contest, even on a 90-degree day. It’s a sacrifice you never seem to mind making, and we appreciate all you do!
The Wyoming Mayor and Town Council — thank you for your continued support of the Peach Festival for more than 36 years.
The Wyoming Town Hall staff — Audrey, Roseann, and Michael — thank you for all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making this festival great. So much happens before, during, and after the festival that most people never see.
The Wyoming Police Department — thank you, Chief Baker, for providing security and keeping everyone safe. And thank you to the officers from Wyoming, as well as Clayton, Camden, Townsend, Harrington, and Kent County Fire Police, for all of your assistance.
DelDOT — thank you for setting up signs, blocking roads, and helping us keep everything moving safely.
Caesar Rodney School District and Wyoming UMC — thank you for allowing us to use your parking lots. Your support makes a tremendous difference.
Pippin Funeral Home — thank you to Mary and Larry for providing handicapped parking and helping make the festival accessible to everyone.
Dawson’s Bus Service — we couldn’t have a festival without our guests, and moving that many people is a logistical nightmare! As usual, with a little help, we got it done. Thank you, Jeff!
Kent County Paramedics and Camden-Wyoming Fire Company — you are always there when we need you, helping anyone who needs assistance. Thank you for your service and dedication.
The Wyoming Maintenance Crew — working all day to keep the trash from building up and the messes to a minimum. Mike and Chuck, you are truly the hardest-working duo! Thank you for keeping the area clean and for everything you do.
The Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club — thank you for hanging signs and jumping in to help with whatever we needed. You are a great group of friends. Thank you, Debbie and crew!
The Caesar Rodney High School Baseball Team — thank you for helping with handicapped and vendor parking. Jeff, thank you for bringing such a great group of young men who were willing to work hard and help wherever needed.
A VERY BIG thank you to the Magnolia Middle School National Junior Honor Society for your dedication to helping with cleanup. Nicole, you should be very proud of the young men and women in your group. Their hard work was greatly appreciated!
A big thank you to all of our raffle tent sponsors. And no, I didn’t win again this year!
Thank you to the members of our community who baked all of those delicious peach desserts and to everyone who volunteered to judge the Dessert Contest.
Thank you to the volunteers who spent their time in the information booth, talking to visitors about Wyoming and helping showcase our wonderful town.
Thank you to all 160+ crafters and vendors who traveled from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, New York, and New Jersey to be part of our festival.
And finally, A VERY BIG THANK YOU to all of DelMarVa for coming out and supporting the Wyoming Peach Festival!
You made this the best Peach Festival in 36 years!
We are incredibly grateful for every volunteer, sponsor, vendor, town employee, first responder, organization, community member, and visitor who helped make August 1st such a special day.
