The Girls’ Choir of Wilmington, formed in 1997, is a community-based choir of about 75 girls ages 9 and older representing a cross-section of the population of the Lower Cape Fear Area. Since its inception, the choir has maintained an active profile in Wilmington, offering its own concerts, performing in area churches and synagogues, and collaborating with organizations like the Wilmington Symphon

y Orchestra. It has toured in the Carolinas, Virginia, and Washington DC, including a prestigious performance at the National Cathedral. It has also participated in events such as the David Walker Festival, Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorations, Dreams Festival of Arts, the Southeastern Oratorio Society Concert Series, and several church music series. The choir rehearses and performs a variety of classical, folk, sacred, secular, and popular music, developing musicianship, self-discipline, teamwork, enthusiasm, and artistic sensitivity on the part of its members. It is also dedicated to serving the larger community through its activities and concerts. Administered by a parent Board, the choir derives its income primarily from tuition and additional support from sponsorships and grants.
