The first Rex Allen Days features a rodeo, parade, and an appearance by Rex Allen himself. After all these years there is still a rodeo and parade but more has been added. Rex Allen Days was started to donate to the hospital in Willcox, Arizona. Even though that is not its purpose anymore, the organization still funds several businesses in the local community, and still keeps this tradition alive.
Rex Allen Days features a two day professional rodeo, (Saturday and Sunday). The rodeo features all the classic events. Saddle bronc, Bareback bronc, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Calf roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding. A kid's rodeo has been added prior to every performance of the rodeo. (4-12) Even though it is nothing new. We hope that it brings joy to everyone every year. There is an Annual Cowboy Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday night. Local "Cowboys" are inducted into a unique group of people that have helped contribute to Willcox's history. All the inductees from previous years can be seen at the Museum on Railroad Avenue. Saturday starts with a large parade that goes through the Historic Downtown Willcox. Mounted entries are always in the parade. There is always plenty of local entries. The parade has always been a tradition and we hope to keep it going for many more years to come. There is also a fair at Keiller Park with plenty of entertainment and vendors. There is also a car show and carnival at Keiller Park also. There should be plenty of fun for anyone! This is a huge annual event for the local community. Come see and enjoy the western lifestyle Willcox has to offer for the weekend!
