Argh trans and q***r mateys! September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day! 🏴‍☠️

Join us Saturday September 19th 10 am-12 pm at Riverside Park for some pirate talk, sunshine, and connection! Bring a craft, games, or just yourself! Pirate talk, clothes, and accessories optional, but encouraged! 🖤

We’ll also be celebrating September as Sexual Health Awareness month and will have condoms and dental dams to distribute. Thanks to Positive Directions, Inc. and Safe Streets Wichita!!

When planning this festival we were committed to keeping it FREE for all attendees and not accepting corporate donations. This meant we had to be mindful and creative about our expenses, including our venues.

Our venue costs were kept low thanks to volunteers that set up our stage, tents, and tables. Then at the end of a long hot day they broke it all down and cleaned everything up.

Thanks to community members lending us tents we were able to give our performers a private space while keeping our costs down.

Safe Streets Wichita has done (and continues to do) so much for our group and the community at large. We are so grateful to Aonya for allowing some q***r and trans folks to mix and mingle at our first kink mixer. Third spaces like Safe Streets Wichita are integral to building and maintaining community. Please consider donating to Safe Streets and help them keep providing this wonderful space for our community.

Transparency is important to our group and we believe it’s essential to share information about how we spent the funds we raised. It was with good intentions that we shared how much we paid individual performers, but we did not ask their permission and did not realize this may be something that performers do not want shared.

We respect our performers privacy and also feel we must be transparent about how we spent the generous donations we received from our community. Here are the entertainment expenses for our FREE admission DIY pride event that was funded solely by our community.

People’s Pride ICT values the time, money, and energy spent by performers creating incredible, meaningful, and joyful art.

Thanks to our amazing community, PPI was able to dedicate almost half of our entire festival budget to paying our performers!

We decided on these amounts after consulting with performers & other local Pride organizations. As a grassroots organization, we believe transparency with our donors is important.

Thank you all for making this happen! We can’t do this without YOU!

*One drag performer refused payment and chose to perform free of charge.

Tonight’s the night! Join us for some fun and games! 🧚♟️🧌🛤️🎲🖤💫

We’re excited to host a board game night! 🎲
Bring your own game to share or use one of ours! We’ll provide some drinks and you bring your own snacks! This event is for all ages, sober, and requires wearing a face masks. 🪎

Safe Streets Wichita will have their weekly TGIT from 3-6 pm and we’d love to see ya there! Join us at the Safe Streets office for some community care and volunteering! 💚

♟️Game pick up will begin at 9 pm so we can be all wrapped up by 9:30.
