A message from your state chair
The past two years have been some of the most exhausting and fulfilling years of my life. With no guidance, no mentoring, and no money, I took on the Kansas State Chair position in hopes of turning this state around and giving lifters amazing, well-run meets to participate in locally. While I think weβve made great strides, we still have a long way to go β mainly in the area of finding more referees and willing meet directors to help support the continued growth of powerlifting in Kansas.
Typically the state chair position is a 3-year term, but with changes made to the election schedule (decided by the executive committee), my term will be up at the end of 2023.
Since taking on the state chair position at the beginning of 2022, I have also opened my own gym and became the head powerlifting coach at Friends University. It has become glaringly obvious that I cannot commit the time and emotional effort needed to keep pushing the state forward.
On November 12, all state members will receive an email from the National Office asking for resumes for any current member wishing to run for state chair. If you have even an inkling that you may be able to help, please step up. I will be happy to support the next state chair with as much mentoring as possible during the transition.
I love this state and I love this sport. I am praying I can pass this baton on to the next generation so we can all continue to watch it flourish.
I want to thank the following people who supported me without question during these past two years. Without their help, we would not have made the progress we did.
All of my clients & athletes who have volunteered countless hours setting up, tearing down, & running meets.
If you are interested in running for state chair, please reach out. I am putting a link to the state chair position description in the comment section below. It is typically required that the state chair be at minimum a state referee, but this requirement can be waived & likely will be in this case.
Much love,
Kate
