Well, this Fall has definitely been one for the books! 🍂

Although today wasn’t a good day for field work 🚜, it’s always a good day for a hot lunch delivered by your local FFA members. 💙💛

📦 Today, members delivered 1️⃣7️⃣2️⃣ meals out to our local farmers and agricultural businesses.

Meals consisted of :
🍖 Pork Loin, prepared by Dayton’s Meats Locker
🧀 Corn Mac
🥐 King’s Hawaiian Roll
🍪 Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar

🫶🏻Thank you to all that participated and donated. This event has grown exponentially these last few years, which wouldn’t be possible without your support.

Well that’s a wrap on soils for this year. 🌱

Last week, we were privileged in completing in a few soil adventures.

Last Tuesday, we travelled just south of Barnes City in the rain and cold and judged 3 different soil pits.

Then last Thursday, 4 students attended South Sub-districts in Wapello. Weather was much more pleasant, but still very muddy. We placed 26th out of 47 teams and on the way home we stopped by the Swinging Bridge in Columbus Junction.

Today, 4 students completed at Southeast District Soils in Muscatine, placing 23rd out of 28 teams, earning a Bronze. It was a great learning experience for all but we still got a ways to go.

So proud of all of them. 👏🏻

Due to some scheduling conflicts. We have changed the date for our Annual FFA Harvest Breakfast.

Plant Science is learning about soil science! 🌱

Student made “dirt” cups today, using a variety of ingredients to represent the different horizons in the soil profile.

O Horizon (Organic material) - Sprinkles

Organisms- Gummy worms

A Horizon (Topsoil) -Chocolate pudding

E Horizon (Zone of Elluvation) - Vanilla pudding

B Horizon (Subsoil or Zone of Accumulation)- Butterscotch pudding

C Horizon (Parent Material) - Toffee/Chocolate Chips/Marshmallows

R Horizon (Bedrock)- Cookies

Today was a successful day for Tri-County FFA at the Iowa State Fair. 🎡

Bristol Ward and Kayden McDonald exhibited in the FFA Floriculture Show.💐

🥇Bristol walked away with Champion Dahlia.🌼

🥇Kayden walked away with Champion Gladiolus and also placed 8th the Sweepstakes.🌷

Together both members entered 40 exhibits, with a large portion of them placing either first or second in their classes. Their great success awarded the Chapter 7th place in the Chapter Award. 💚

💜 They both plan to walk in the Parade of Champions with their corresponding exhibits on Saturday, August 15th at 3pm.

📺 If you are unable to make to the fair, the Parade of Champions will be aired on IPBS.

🙏🏻 We would also like to send a HUGE Thank You to Mr. Mike Striegel and Chloe Zittergruen. Their mentorship and expertise is large contributor to our chapter and our members success!
