Ozarktoberfest

Ozarktoberfest Ozarktoberfest is an annual homebrew festival held in West Plains, Missouri each year in October wher Since 2013!

The first year it was called The First Annual West Plains Homebrew Festival (or something like that!). Somebody got wise and shortened it to "Ozarktoberfest" in year two, and it stuck! Homebrewers sharing their beers to benefit the West Plains Boys and Girls Club.

Howdy folks. While there will not be an Ozarktoberfest this year, the West Plains Noon Rotary Club is planning an Octoberfest Saturday October 9th!

07/04/2020

Sorry folks, but we have decided it is best to cancel Ozarktoberfest in 2020. Here's to hoping we can do it in 2021.

In the meantime, in the spirit of Ozarktoberfest, please make a donation to the West Plains Boys and Girls Club who would normally benefit from our festival.

Stay safe. Be responsible. Raise a pint!

We're pleased to have been awarded a grant which we will use to expand Ozarktoberfest and raise more for our local Boys and Girls Club. Cheers!

Why Saturday September 19th; Isn't it OCTOBER-fest?

Excellent point, but in this case, logic will break your heart!

Historically and in Germany to this day, the fest always runs for 2 weeks ending on the first Sunday of October. So in 2020, that's Saturday September 19th to Sunday, October 4th.

Now ya know. And we'll see ya then! Prost!

Homebrewers!! Let us know when your club meets up and we'll have Phil and Aym of Wages Brewing Company (owner and brewer, respectively) visit ya in the next few months!

They say they'd love to do a small presentation about this year's Ozarktoberfest and possibly get to sample some of your homebrews too!

And be sure to save the date... Saturday, September 19th is Ozarktoberfest 2020! Cheers!

The homebrewer challenge for 2020 will be... German wheat beers!

That includes: Hefeweizen, Dunkel, Gose, Weizenbock, Weissbier, Kristall, or Berliner!

Of course, you can brew anything you like for the festival. There will be three sets of awards:
1 - Best of Show
2 - Best of Judging overall
3 - Best of Judging in the German wheat categories

Homebrewers, start your planning!

We'd like to give a special shout out to Tom Stehn and Todd Shanks of the city and McWilliams Pumpkin Patch and Jim McFarland of Trillium Trust.

Thanks to their special collaborative effort, we were able to bring the McWilliams Pumpkin Patch train ride to the event and through the downtown area for a historical experience of epic proportions!!

Hi y'all! We think we failed to announce the winners of the homebrew competition.

$708 was raised by the voting for favorite beers! From the voting, the winners were:

George Miller People's Choice Award went to Broken Orr Brewing ( Jake & Brooke Bratten ) for their Almond Joy Stout!

Best German Beer went to They Brewing ( Timothy Fields and Jeff Feeney ) for their Limelight Gose!
..and from the beer judges....

1st Place - Eric the Red's Red IPA
2nd Place - Dan's Brew's American Lager
3rd Place - Greenhouse Ciders' Guava Cider

Thanks to everyone who participated as brewers, attendees, volunteers, and sponsors!

We were able to raise enough to get the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater West Plains Area the much needed water fountains! Watch for a future announcement about that!

We'd like to make a special shout out to Parcel Express who printed our posters and homebrew judging sheets for Ozarktoberfest 2019!
