Stop chasing PSI. If you want to move faster, you need to understand Cleaning Units.
Most guys think high pressure is the secret. It is not. It is about the volume. Cleaning Units (CU) = GPM x PSI. That is your real speed factor.
Check the math:
4gpm x 4000psi = 16,000 CU
5.5gpm x 2500psi =13,750 CU
8gpm x 3500psi = 28,000 CU
10gpm x 3000psi = 30,000 CU
12gpm x 2200psi = 26,400 CU
17gpm x 2200psi = 37,400 CU
16gpm x 3500psi = 56000 CU
20gpm x 3000psi = 60,000 CU
34gpm x 2200psi = 74,800 CU
Now where things change is with 3x 10gpm pressure washers Siamesed together. Although 30gpm x 3000 psi = 90000 CU, there’s more friction loss and it still cleans good but 2-17gpms actually cleans faster. We’ve tested both and it’s why we mainly set up 2-3 17gpms on our rigs.
When you are pushing 34gpm, you are not just washing; you are erasing dirt. You rinse faster, finish jobs in a fraction of the time, and slash your labor costs. High volume is how you scale a business and increase profitability.
