Our Lady of Lourdes Chicken Run

Our Lady of Lourdes Chicken Run The OLL Chicken Run features a 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk the morning of the festival! The inaugural event will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2014.

In a time before the new church, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish was without a place to fry chicken for their annual festival. A small trailer with fryers was brought in from a neighboring parish. Workers were forced to spend long shifts in this small, hot space. It was a dangerous job, as they dodged blistering oil from the fryers and trekked across the parking lot to bring us our chicken. Year after

year, these workers made the Our Lady of Lourdes Chicken Dinner possible, risking it all to bring the citizens of Washington their favorite chicken. These men and women earned the prestigious title of “Chicken Runners.” We honor these brave Chicken Runners today as we participate in this memorial event, our very own Chicken Run.
