Hello Familia!
First, we are having some family members facing some health challenges, so please keep all of us in prayer.
We are days out before we gather for our first family reunion in 25 years! We are about 60 strong in attendance! Are you excited?
A major shout out to Lisa Nichelson, Jasmine Cooper, Kim Taylor, Rachel Cooper, and Gwen Lassiter as the BEST PLANNING COMMITTEE and all of their hard work and time that they put in planning what we hope is a fun-filled, loving weekend for you! Karl Bruster, thank you for conducting our site visit this winter. It is because of you taking the time to see the facility, that we know we will be in the right place at the right time!
A few important details that you need to know:
Check-in time is 3:00 pm on Friday. You can call to see if you can get early check in, but the hotel is sold out, so that may not be possible before 3:00 pm. Please note that the hotel will put a $50.00 per day hold on your card for incidentals. You should use a credit card because they will take the money out of your account on a debit card and return it to your account 3-5 days after checkout. I am trying to have the hotel turn off the incidentals which would mean that you could not charge anything back to your room and they would remove any amenities that were in the room. If I am not able to negotiate this, I wanted to give you the heads up so that you can be prepared.
Our Family Registration Center will be open on July 19 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm - site tba
The Meet and Greet Reception is scheduled on July 20 from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm - site tba
The Gala and Afterglow is scheduled on July 20 from 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm in University Ballroom C
Attire:
Meet and Greet Reception - Casual attire
Gala and Afterglow - Grown and Sexy! - Note this does not mean that you have to wear a gown or suit. Slacks/pants/capris/sundresses/pantsuits/jumpsuits/skirts/halter tops are fine. We want you to be comfortable and cute, but please - no torn jeans, no daisy dukes - b***y shorts, and if it looks too tight in the mirror... it is.
We are working on having an official photographer. The family photograph will be taken at 10:00 am on Saturday morning at the dock of the hotel. Please be ON TIME. Please note that when we are working with professionals, that is not the time to ask someone to take a photo with your phone. There will be time for that, but not on our photographer's watch or payment. Photos will be available for sale through the photographer.
Please note that if we have not received either your registration fee in full or your balance registration fee, you WILL NOT be admitted to the Reception or Gala. There is no paying at the door. We must give the hotel an official head count on all banquet orders in advance.
Also, be sure that you used the family hotel code for your room BARDFR - there are some folks that registered for the reunion, but their names do not appear on my latest pick up report. (room assignment/listing report) We have stressed that we have a room block to fill and it was offered at a discounted rate. Also, it's not too late if you are arriving before Friday or leaving after Sunday to ask the hotel if they will honor our rate for the additional day.
