These little rewards are truly the Gems that have made all the trials and tribulations of Melincko’s Museum worth the effort. Katharine Wright was awarded The Legion of Honor award by France for her contribucontributions to Aviation. The Wright Brothers abandoned their first airplane in 1901 in the sand and Post Master Tate’s wife made three sets of dresses for their daughters from the fabric on the discarded plane. They told the Postmaster’s wife that “man will not fly for 1,000 years (wrote in their diary 50), and that they were abandoning the airplane and becoming full time bicycle builders.” When they returned to Dayton on the train, Katharine put them back on track, and changed the course of history forever. Remember Katharine!
