Words & Wine – The Beginning

Our first Words & Wine gathering happened last week at Lounge 93.

We started with Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast, which I first bought in 1988. What fascinated me then was Sylvia Beach — a woman who ran a small bookstore in Paris that became a gathering place for writers like Hemingway and Fitzgerald.

It made me realize something.

Great conversations about books have often started with just a few people around a table.

That’s exactly how the first Words & Wine gathering began.

The Lost Generation had Paris cafés.
Maybe Gen X just has wine bars.

Looking forward to the next gathering.

Our first Words & Wine gathering happened last week at Lounge 93.

The theme was what book stayed with you the longest, which I titled this month's theme as "Play it again Sam"

Those who attended came with an open heart and excitement to share their cherished stories. We opened with Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast, which I first bought back in 1988. What fascinated me then was a character named Sylvia Beach — a woman who ran a small bookstore in Paris and supported writers and artists.

Somehow, long before computers or internet searches, I managed to track down a book about her. I still don’t know how I found it.

The evening turned into a wonderful conversation about the books that shaped us and what wines we enjoyed most.

Looking forward to the next gathering which will be the first Thursday in April at Lounge 93, bring a friend too. Remember, no reading is required, we are an untraditional book club.
