🚨 ATTENTION 2026 DU QUOIN STATE FAIR EXHIBITORS 🚨
Following updated guidance issued by USDA APHIS on April 27, 2026, the Illinois Department of Agriculture has removed the H5N1 influenza testing requirement for lactating dairy cattle exhibited at the 2026 Du Quoin State Fair as of now.
Under this updated federal guidance, lactating dairy cattle originating from states with “Unaffected Status” through the National Milk Testing Strategy (NMTS) are no longer required to undergo individual testing prior to interstate movement. Illinois achieved Unaffected Status in October 2025.
This science-based approach relies on ongoing statewide milk testing, which has proven to be more effective at early detection while reducing the burden on producers.
We appreciate our exhibitors’ continued commitment to animal health and helping ensure a safe and successful Du QuoinState Fair.
