Had a blast working with to put a group run together last weekend! The BCL beat us up a bit but we all survived and I can't wait to get back out with these great people! Where should we run next?

Thanks to for helping fuel our adventures!

It's the weekend! Enjoy this grainy cell phone footage (I should probably upgrade my phone some day). The Cochie Springs Trail is one of those little gems of a trail. Over by the Ritz but almost nobody except us crazy runner-folk venture far enough to see the backside of the Tortolitas. Always fun passing the tourists as you get within a half mile of the hotel ๐Ÿ˜‰. I passed one family on the way back that stopped me to ask if there were any snakes in the area to which I of course replied Yes! I remember a time when I too was concerned about snakes; now I realize they are just part of the landscape and even look forward to coming across the desert critters on my runs.

Thanks so much to everyone who follows or supports the Trailbird Running project! What started as a not well-defined attempt at building community around trail running has grown to recognize that trail running provides a unique lens through which to explore our shared humanity. Trails connect us to each other, to our world, to our heritage, and to ourselves. The future of Trailbird Running continues to be shaped by those around us. As a hobby-project there is never enough time to do all the things we'd like to; but we have plans for events, charity partnerships, and continued filming of the series (episode 4 is being filmed this weekend!). It's also amazing to see runners in the social media feeds wearing our trailbird splatter hat! So again, thank you. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š

The next film is coming soon featuring Tucson runner ! Her desert trail photos have been bringing joy to many IG feeds. We caught up last weekend and talked about what it means to be a runner, her recovery from a fall that left her ankle broken, and why it is important to share the beauty of our sport. While filming I decided to go off-trail and ended up getting a cactus through my shoe and into my foot. In an effort to remedy the situation I tried to pull the cactus spines out with my bear hands which of course meant that I also got a cactus through my thumb. We joked about how this is just part of trail running in the desert as she showed me how to use two rocks to pry them out. ๐Ÿ˜…
