I know it’s cool to drink coffee black, but I have to admit something to myself and the world:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While I love a PROPER cup of black coffee...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I put cream and sugar in my cup almost every day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With no regrets.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why am I talking about coffee when this is a photo of a dress?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here’s where I’m going to connect the dots for you...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’ve NEVER ruined a wedding dress in all my years of photographing them in precarious places. I like to think I have nerves of steel 🤣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With that being said, I may look cool as a cucumber on the outside while I’m balancing on a bookshelf to hang that dress, but on the inside, I’m always terrified that I’m somehow going to spill coffee on the gown. Every. Single. Time.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like - what if someone walks past me with coffee while I’m shooting this shot and I’m unaware of my surroundings and I back into them and the coffee goes flying and lands on those perfect ruffles.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Regardless if there’s even coffee nearby - whether I brought a mug or not - I have a fleeting thought of “omg what if coffee spills on this pristine gown while it’s in my possession?!”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s irrational 🤷🏼‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Don’t make this mistake! Not just for photographers but ANY vendor you hire. Unless this is their profession, don’t hire a friend or family member for services on your wedding day. Any past brides care to chime in on the topic?
