“The problems might be supernatural, but the solutions are human.”

We’re excited to welcome Kay Zempel to Lore & Luster 2027 🖤

Kay’s path to becoming a paranormal romance author has taken a few turns - from filling notebooks with fanfiction in high school, to earning a PhD in Biochemistry, working in academia, and becoming a medical writer before ultimately finding her way back to fiction.

Today, she’s the author of paranormal romance including The Blood Pack, writing inclusive love stories with disability and mental health representation at their heart.

For Kay, happily ever afters aren’t reserved for one kind of person. Her stories are built around the belief that people deserve to be loved for all the pieces that make them who they are, never in spite of them.

Originally from Southern California and now calling the PNW home, Kay spends her non-writing hours collecting entirely too many hobbies, playing video games, and hanging out with the world’s laziest husky.

We’re so excited to bring her stories and her perspective to Lore & Luster this April. 🖤

Spooky. Emotional. Dark. Romantic.

We’re excited to welcome J.C. Murphey to Lore & Luster 2027!

J.C. is a Texas-based author and longtime storyteller who has spent the last 20 years writing and, in her own words, “stockpiling all sorts of spooky, emotional projects” to unleash on readers.

A lover and writer of dark romance and dark fantasy, her catalog takes readers from grimdark and romantic fantasy to demons, witches, death, shifters, and mafia romance. Her newest release, Fox Hunt, is a slow-burn mafia shifter dark romance featuring fated mates caught on opposite sides of rival mobs.

And while J.C. admits she may seem a little heartless when it comes to ruthlessly torturing her characters, she promises there’s a heart in there somewhere. We’ll let her readers be the judge of that. 👀

When you’ve called that many places home, it makes sense that creating entirely new worlds comes naturally. 🌲🏔️✨

We’re excited to welcome Alex Gordon (aka A. Gordon) to Lore & Luster 2027!

A young adult and new adult fantasy romance author, Alex writes stories where magic, mystery, and romance collide, blending paranormal elements with high-stakes adventures and relationships at the center of it all.

Her inspiration comes from many of the same things that have shaped her own life: travel, mythology, and the natural beauty of the places around her. That sense of exploration carries into books like Rise of the Sirin, Crimson Jewel, and her Darkest Wishes paranormal romance series.

When she isn’t building her next world, Alex is usually much closer to this one, and can be found hiking, fishing, spending time with her husband and two rescued German shepherds (or choosing the equally respectable adventure of dessert on the couch with a murder mystery marathon)

And after all that wandering, we’re especially excited to bring her back to Washington for Lore & Luster!

✨ VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS ARE NOW LIVE!✨

Want to be part of the magic behind Lore & Luster 2027? We’re officially accepting volunteer applications for our April 10-11, 2027 event at The Greater Tacoma Convention Center

From helping manage author signing lines and answering attendee questions to roaming the convention floor, supporting load-in/load-out, and helping us transform the space before doors even open, our volunteers are a HUGE part of what makes Lore & Luster possible.

We’re looking for kind, reliable, book-loving humans who want to help us create an organized, welcoming, and unforgettable weekend for our attendees, authors, vendors, and industry guests.
