This is the official page for the Jamestown High School "Red Raider" Marching Band. The Jamestown High School Band has an outstanding tradition of excellence both on and off the field. The band has received many honors and awards in its 92 year history including four state championships. Most recently the JHS Marching Band won back to back New York State Field Band Championships in 2014 a
nd 2015 in the Large School 2 division under the direction of Meghan Murray (2006-present). They will be competing in the NYSFBC National Class for the 2016 season and have been invited to perform in the 2017 Chicago St. The program's history goes back to its organization under Arthur Goranson (1924 - 1948). Subsequent Directors include: Delbert Vossberg (1948 - 1953); Charles Jacobson (1953 - 1968); Cecil Adams (1968 - 1969); Frank Smeragliuolo (1969 - 1970); Jeffrey Corbin (1970 - 1980); Lou Deppas (1980 - 2000); Gary Kurtis (2000 - 2001); Keith Hall (2000 - 2001); Cathy South (2001 - 2002); Cory Derrenbacher (2002 - 2005); Jeff Hoffman (2002 - 2003); Jamie Sigler (1998 - 2006); James Stephens (2005 - 2006); Marc Lentsch (2006 - 2010); and Meghan (Bolling) Murray (2006 - ). Presently the Concert and Symphonic Bands are under the direction of Meghan (Bolling) Murray. Some of the JHS Marching Band's earlier accomplishments include representing all of New York State in 1982 at the Festival of States in St. There it placed 3rd, 4th, and 7th places in Concert, Parade, and Field Band competitions respectively. The Band also represented N.Y.S. in 1984 at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and New Year's Day 1986 at the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. In 1988, the Band returned once again as the N.Y.S Representative at the St. Petersburg, Florida competition. In 1989, the band proudly represented New York State in their second appearance at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with 2 national television appearances on the David Letterman Show. In 1992, the band was crowned State Champions of Class AAA at the New York State Field Band Conference Championships. In 1995, the Band appeared for the third time in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as on NBC's The Today Show. In 2000, the Band was named "Grand Champion International" at the North American Music Festival Competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In 2002 the band placed first in the New York State Field Band Conference Championship for Large School Division 2 in Syracuse, N.Y. The band participated in the 2004 FedEx Orange Bowl as New York State Representatives. There, they placed first in both categories, parade band and field competition, and won the right to perform at Pre-Game. In December of 2007 the Marching Band traveled to Orlando, FL to perform in the nationally-televised Citrus Parade and Disney's "Once Upon a Christmas Time Parade" in the Magic Kingdom on New Year's Eve. In March of 2010, the Marching Band participated in the New York City St. The Marching Band traveled to Disney World to perform in the Magic Kindgom's Electric Light Parade in Orlando, FL in February 2012. They were invited back in 2014 to perform once again in the Magic Kingdom.
