CLASS SPOTLIGHT:
Introduction to Tapestry
Explore the art of woven storytelling with textile artist Heather Macali. This half-day immersive session is designed to guide you through the fundamental techniques of tapestry weaving, from setting up your loom to professional finishing.
🌟 Class Description
Each student will create a unique, one-of-a-kind tapestry using a combination of texture, color, and composition. This comprehensive class covers everything you need to start your weaving journey:
Foundations: Learn the essential process of warping a frame loom and basic composition.
Techniques: Explore a variety of stitches and methods including color changes, ghiordes knots, and sumac.
Design: Add personality to your piece with fringe and unique textural elements.
Completion: Master the professional finishing techniques needed to display your artwork.
Note!
Complete Weaving Kit Included: Your materials fee covers a full weaving kit featuring a basic frame loom, yarn, tapestry needle, and a weaving comb.
While plenty of yarn will be provided to complete your project, students are welcome to bring additional yarn or unique materials from their own stash to incorporate into their tapestry!
