Stone Soup for the 21st Century October 2010 was a smashing success with over 1,300 attendees! Join us for the third course on March 23, 2013 at Rippowam Middle School and the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering! Stone Soup is an all day resource event, showcasing Stamford's community organizations and agencies, in collaboration with the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) Al
umni Association, the Stamford Public Schools, the Parent Teacher Council of Stamford, Domus, Stamford Public Education Foundation, ROSCCO and over 30 community partners. The event draws citywide and is fun filled, interactive, and multi-lingual. In 2010, we had over 1,300 people who attended, with 600 families. Its purpose is to increase awareness of the services, agencies, programs and organizations serving Stamford's families. This will be the third time Stone Soup for the 21st Century has been held. This year there is a special focus on educational resources. The morning session, from 9:00 am to 12 Noon, to be held at Rippowam Middle School, will focus on Best Practices in Education, and is being organized by the Stamford Public Schools and the Stamford Public Education Foundation. It will begin with presentations by two key note speakers, which will be followed by two sessions of workshops at AITE. To choose your morning workshops or to pre-register for the resource expo. The afternoon session, from 12 Noon to 4:00 pm, also to be held at A.I.T.E. (Academy of Information Technology and Engineering) will provide a FREE LUNCH, showcase all kinds of resources that serve families, present live performances, give you a chance to have your taxes filed for free, have a carnival atmosphere, childcare and tons of fun stuff for all members of the family. Stone Soup for the 21st Century came about as a result of a series of Community Conversations, led by members of the Parent Leadership Training Institute's Alumni Association, that were attended by hundreds of Stamford's citizens from diverse backgrounds. Following the adage that "knowledge is power," Stone Soup empowers participants to act on their own behalf by providing them with knowledge and information about available community resources.
