Joining our friends Brothers Lazaroff at Joe’s Cafe on Nov 5 - Duo Andalus brings together Andalusian, Sephardic and Middle Eastern music, with vocalist LALA TAMAR and Barcelona-based flamenco guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Ofer Ronen singing and playing in Darija (Moroccan Arabic), Spanish, Amazigh and Hebrew. Lala is the first artist to record a contemporary album in Haquetia, the dialect of the Jews of northern Morocco, and made her Lincoln Center debut in 2023. One night only in an intimate 90-seat room, with David Louis Goldenberg + Brothers Lazaroff opening.

🎶 MATI is getting even bigger in 2027.

Music at the Intersection is expanding across Grand Center, adding Powell Hall and The Sheldon as main stages for the first time. The July 15 through 18 festival will feature eight main stages, national and St. Louis artists, free outdoor performances, community activities and more.

MATI returns July 15-18, 2027, to Grand Center Arts District in St. Louis with eight stages and free outdoor shows.

As MATI continues to grow and evolve, Hansen sees these moves to offer more free performances, events, and activations alongside ticketed indoor shows as a way to keep the festival’s strong community roots intact while elevating the Grand Center Arts District and showcasing the high levels of talent the festival brings.

“Affordability and accessibility are really important to people right now, and being able to give the community a free activation allowed us to really think about our indoor shows differently,” Hansen says. “Doing more outside for free allows us to put tens of thousands of people in the streets of the Grand Center Arts District and expose them to this amazing district, and all the businesses, arts organizations, and activations.”

SLO Symphony’s Powell Hall and The Sheldon Concert Hall (new for 2027) join The Fabulous Fox, The Sovereign and Jazz St. Louis as indoor, ticketed stages.

Plus, MATI’s community block party is growing with The Big Top, a mobile Wash Ave Stage and the Performance Green Stage on Samuel Shepherd completely free (yes, FREE) for 2027.

2024 MATI festival alumnus Esperanza Spalding (i.n.) is returning to St. Louis this month for two shows at Kranzberg Arts Foundation’s Midtown neighbor, City Winery St. Louis (3730 Foundry Way).

Experience one of the most innovative artists of our time in an unforgettable, intimate setting. Grammy-winning bassist, vocalist, and composer esperanza spalding brings a rare trio performance to City Winery.
