Welcome to the Official page of SLU TKE Events for St. Jude!
We're excited to have you here as we unite our community through engaging events to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Our Mission:
At Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) at Saint Louis University, we believe in making a difference. Through various events—be it car shows, sports tournaments, or community gatherings—we aim to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude, ensuring that children battling life-threatening diseases receive the care they need without financial burden.
About St. Jude Children's Research Hospital:
Founded in 1962 by entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, is a leading institution dedicated to treating and defeating pediatric catastrophic diseases. Danny Thomas, once a struggling entertainer, vowed to build a shrine to St. Jude Thaddeus—the patron saint of hopeless causes—if he found success. His dream materialized into a hospital where no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family's ability to pay.
St. Jude's groundbreaking research and treatment have significantly increased survival rates for childhood cancers. For instance, the survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common childhood cancer, has risen from 4% in 1962 to 94% today. Importantly, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing them to focus solely on their child's recovery.
Stay connected with us here for updates on upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to contribute. Together, we can support St. Jude's mission: Finding cures. Saving children.
