Spring Hope National Pumpkin Festival The Spring Hope National Pumpkin Festival is an annual community celebration in Spring Hope, NC on the first weekend in October.

It brings together families, local businesses and visitors for fall fun, food, music and pumpkin themed traditions.

The Spring Hope National Pumpkin Festival Board of Directors is proud and honored to announce that Lt. Jason Leary of the Spring Hope Police Department will serve as our 2026 Grand Marshal.

On August 6, 2025, Lt. Leary didn't hesitate. When a vehicle was swept into rushing floodwaters near Spring Hope, he dove in, battling a current so powerful it carried him nearly 300 feet downstream in a desperate attempt to save a young woman's life. He emerged bruised and battered, but he never stopped trying to help. For his extraordinary courage, Lt. Leary was awarded the Carnegie Medal for Heroism, the nation's highest civilian honor for bravery.

That's the kind of heart and selflessness our hometown is built on and it's exactly what the Grand Marshal of the Pumpkin Festival should represent.

Commissioner Stephen Brumfield, President of the Spring Hope National Pumpkin Festival, had the honor of reading a statement recognizing Lt. Leary's accolades and personally asking him to serve as Grand Marshal at the Town Council meeting on September 8, 2026.
