Saturday morning at Moats Park looked exactly the way it should. ⚾🌱

Before the first pitch… there’s work to be done. 💪

The Apache Boys showed up ready — picking up branches, raking, hauling trash, and getting the park dialed in alongside their coaches and parents. Three-wheelers buzzing, gloves getting dirty, and a whole lot of pride going into the place they’ll call home this season. 🖤💛

And somewhere in the middle of it all… the real motivation was revealed:

“Walking tacos?!?” 🌮😂

Because that’s what it’s all about…leaving it all on the field, and getting fed afterward! 💯

Now the field’s ready… and the only question left is:

Who’s hitting the first home run? 👀💣

Last summer we held the first Sh’Wing The Bat Tournament at Moats Park, and it turned into one of those great Sherwood days — softball, friends, cold drinks, and a whole lot of community. ⚾🍻❤️

And we’re doing it again this year on Saturday, August 1, 2026! 📅

The best part? All proceeds from the tournament go toward improvements at Moats Park and the Moats Park Makeover. 🌳

The park improvements are already underway — check out the recent update video, with more to come. 🚧👷‍♂️

We are still accepting donations for the park project. Please reach out to Levi Kuhn, Luke Kuhn, or contact the Village of Sherwood office for more information. 🤝

Project Home Plate Update ⚾

It’s been a little while since our last update, so we wanted to share where things stand with the Moats Park Makeover.

🧱 The old dugouts were demolished in October
⚾ Dura-Edge field surfacing and new concrete were completed in November
📐 We’re currently finalizing the new dugout designs

Thanks to some very generous donors, a lot of meaningful progress has already been made — and we are incredibly grateful for that support. We can’t wait to start highlighting the people and businesses who are helping make this transformation happen as we get closer to completion. ✅

Now we’re continuing to gather support to carry this project across the finish line. Our goal is to raise enough to replace the backstop on Field 2 and upgrade portions of the fencing, which will make a big difference for safety, playability, and how the park feels overall. 💯
