Our FFA members recently competed at the JJC / Section 6 Livestock Judging CDE! 🐄🐖🐑🐐

At this event, students evaluated and ranked livestock—cattle, swine, sheep, and goats—from best to worst. They carefully observed each class in the ring, took detailed notes, and later answered questions to defend their decisions. This contest truly highlights skill, focus, and attention to detail!

Leading the way for our team was Addison Herrmann with an impressive 635 (3rd overall), followed closely by James Bend (634 – 4th overall) and Kory Peterson (605 – 5th overall). These three secured 1st place overall in the section for IC with an 1874! 🥇

Additional strong performances came from Lauren Peterson (7th overall), Jaelyne Johnson, and Hank Hickey.

Great job to all our team members — we’re proud of your hard work and success! 🌟

New results!

Agricultural Mechanics CDE 🔧
3 FFA members competed in the Welding and Power divisions of the CDE, showcasing their skills and knowledge in Ag Mechanics. Participants were tested on equipment identification and problem-solving related to basic mechanical issues, along with completing hands-on practicums to demonstrate their abilities in each area.

All 3 members represented us extremely well! Kory Peterson earned 3rd place overall in Power with a score of 57—just four points shy of first—and also achieved the highest test score in the entire contest. Ethan McClanahan placed 4th overall in Welding with a score of 76, and Lucas Baird finished 8th overall.
An outstanding performance by all—great job!

Greenhand Quiz Bowl CDE 🥉

Team members included Lauren Peterson, Lilly Dyer, Bailee Richey, Jocelyn Schoenholz, and Kory Peterson — great job, team!

Big congratulations to Ethan McClanahan for representing IC FFA over Spring Break at State Awards Day with his SAE! ⚙️

While the results weren’t what he had hoped for, he gained valuable interview experience and meaningful feedback to help grow and strengthen his SAE for next year’s competition. His average score from his 4 judges was an 80/100! 👏🏼 We’re confident he will come back even stronger and ready to take on the competition next spring!

Keep up the awesome work, Ethan! 🌟

🌱 Next Generation Agriculture (NGA) @ ICMS: 11 FFA officers and members visited ICMS to lead a mini-CDE rotation - introducing students to FFA and the many opportunities available as they transition to ICHS.
The committee created hands-on, interactive, and engaging lessons that gave students a fun glimpse into FFA experiences. Our members did an outstanding job connecting with students and showcasing everything FFA has to offer!
