I cling to Your testimonies, Lord… Teach me, Lord, the way of Your decrees… Give me understanding. Psalm 119:31–34
Abandon the towns and dwell among the rocks… Jeremiah 48:28
There are seasons when life becomes so loud that we stop noticing how tired our souls have become.
The constant demands.
The emotional weight.
The pressure to keep showing up, keep serving, keep holding everything together.
And slowly, without realizing it, striving replaces stillness.
But throughout Scripture, God repeatedly invites His people away from the noise and back into communion with Him.
In Psalm 119, the psalmist does not pray for greater productivity or more strength to keep pushing through. Instead, he asks for understanding. Nearness. Guidance. A heart aligned with God again.
And in Jeremiah, we see the imagery of leaving the crowded places behind to dwell quietly among the rocks. A picture of refuge, retreat, and sacred withdrawal.
Sometimes the most healing thing we can do is step away long enough to hear God clearly again.
Not because we are weak.
But because we are human.
Jesus Himself modeled this rhythm. He regularly withdrew from crowds, responsibilities, and demands to rest, pray, and be with the Father.
God never intended for His daughters to live emotionally depleted and spiritually disconnected.
He invites us into rhythms of peace.
Into quiet places.
Into stillness where our souls can breathe again.
Maybe your exhaustion is not a sign of failure.
Maybe it is an invitation.
An invitation to slow down.
To release the pressure to carry everything alone.
To let God restore what striving has worn thin.
“He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:3
Phew. God is near and we are not alone in needing soul rest. God has it available for us today. Lord, Jesus, restore our souls in the way only you can. Amen.
