"Hello family and friends of the Log Cabin,
I hope this email finds all of you well.
Your Help is urgently needed!
I'm not sure how much of this information has been decimated to everyone so I thought I would send it out to cover all our bases.
My apologies to those of you where this is redundant.
As some of you may or may not know, over the past few months, the Post has been working extremely hard to renew, and keep our property insurance on the Cabin.
I'm sure all of you are aware of how increasingly difficult in CA it is for homeowners and businesses alike to keep and maintain property insurance. Especially for a 100+ year old log cabin.
In our case there were numerous upgrades and repairs needed for us to meet the requirements of our insurance company.
These unplanned expenses necessitated that the Post dig deep into its emergency reserves to get everything completed, paid, and meet the deadlines given us by the insurer.
So now we are in a bit of a precarious financial situation where if a need should arise with a veteran or their family, we don't have the funds we normally would to assist.
It could also be quite devastating depending on the nature of the emergency, should the cabin need an unexpected repair..
Not to mention the addition of dealing with rising operational costs associated with the imposed tariffs, and rising prices in our economy in general.
So, we are working to find ways to generate additional income to replace our depleted war chest.
One of these avenues for you to help the Post, is a Go Fund Me that has been set up for donations. Our goal is $30K
Here is the link for all of you who are interested in donating and helping us out: https://gofund.me/58bd9eac
Other fundraisers may be on the way as well such as spaghetti, or crab feeds, or even raffles, etc, depending on resources and how creative we can get.
We sincerely appreciate your support and assistance with helping us keep and maintain the Log Cabin.
The whole community really came through for us after Covid, having nearly lost the Cabin during that time. We hope to do it again!!!
I will keep you updated with any other news, progress, and upcoming events I get.
Steven Vann"
