DEMG is hosted and curated by Baruch Porras Hernandez, is often sponsored by KQED, and organizes literary shows all over SF. is a Latinx Literary Performance Showcase featuring the Bay Area's top Latin American Poets, Writers, Comedians, and Musicians. It is hosted and curated by Baruch Porras Hernandez. Often sponsored by KQED, DEMG began as a three-day festival of Latino Poetry and Spoken Word, founded by Baruch Porras Hernandez in 2014, created in part by a grant from the Galeria de la Raza. Since 2014 DEMG has been a part of poetry festivals like LitQuake, Beast Crawl, Write This Way, and has done performances at Universities, Bars, Theatres, Movie Theatres, Bookstores, Sexual Health Clinics, and the legendary The Chapel performance venue. Founded in 1970, the Galería is a non-profit community-based arts organization whose mission is to foster public awareness and appreciation of Chicano/Latino art and serve as a laboratory where artists can both explore contemporary issues in art, culture and civic society, and advance intercultural dialogue. To implement our mission, the Galería supports Latino artists in the visual, literary, media and performing art fields whose works explore new aesthetic possibilities for socially committed art. The ReGen Artist Fund is a small grants program that seeks to provide Latino artists the grant writing and artistic program planning skills to write competitive proposals and to access government and foundation arts funding. The workshop presenters will explore strategies to make artistic projects compelling, to design projects that address the funders’ priorities, to target and reach an audience and to develop a budget, a work sample and a biographical summary. By the workshop’s conclusion, all participants will have completed a proposal draft and will have an additional two weeks to submit a final application to Galería.

Hey everyone, I need you to all donate. I will donate as soon as I get my next paycheck, things have been rough financially but WE NEED TO ALL HELP Diego!
Diego Gómez is one of my all time favorite artists, not only is he super talented, he's a fellow big ass gay ass XMen nerd like me, and he's created some incredible incredible works of art throughout the years, I see him as one of the most important visual artists in the bay, q***r Mexican, kinky, nerdy as f**k, intelligent, he loves San Francisco as much as I do, from his murals to his comic graphic novel, zines, fashion illustrations, I am so sad he was attacked. It sounds bad, scary, if you got 5 bucks or a 100 bucks donate, living in San Francisco is tough enough when you are someone who focuses on being a full time artist like he does, this city doesn't make it easy for artist who are thriving artistically but not rolling in the dough, if someone like this happened to me, it would break me financially, so lets send him some dollars please?

Do you love music? Do you love dance? Do you love dance?

I was once a gay little boy in Mexico getting down to the music my parents raised me with, the now classic MUSICA that is part of my little soul, I used to love to sing and I have been trying to bring singing back into my performance more and more, I also used to dance, I started the Swing and Salsa club with my friends back in Highschool (it was called Bust a Move, LOL!!!) and when an artist brings dance on stage I just bow down, it sparks something in me, I LOVE AND ADMIRE when performers use their voices and bodies in ways I can't or am not able to yet, so I have asked three incredible people to join me on stage that really light a fire in me when they perform: SNJV! and Dizzy Jenkins and Diana Gameros and I are doing a show together presented by Q***r Rebels AND I WANT ALL OF YOU TO COME ENJOY IT! Part of the Intergenerational Curatorial Residency, this show is a DO NOT MISS!
