The Dempsey Holder Ocean Festival represents the local heritage of surf competitors and surf lifestyle, born out of Imperial Beach and stretching down the Pacific coast through Baja. Once again, WILDCOAST will host South San Diego County's largest and longest running surf contest, with divisions for all ages, levels and forms of wave-riding. In partnership with the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce, this year's event includes a Blues and BBQ Festival that will take place at the Imperial Beach Pier Plaza from 10am-5pm, with great food and music that the whole community can enjoy. This year we will introduce the Dempsey Beach Challenge, a free competition for kids of all ages, promoting youth fitness and beach recreation. And once again, WILDCOAST will be partnering with UAPO (United Athletes of the Pacific Ocean) to make the Dempsey an international event with participants from throughout Latin America.
