A first this year and it makes me really happy. I have not felt that good in a long time, but yesterday I felt like my old self. I ended up training for 7h40min. The day started at 6am and ended at around 6:50pm. It’s summed up here in this video.
I don’t know yet if I’ll be able to fully get back to training, but as of now it is my intention. I unofficially started training again on October 1st. I’ll provide a recap at the end of the month, and sporadically share training videos, and hopefully share monthly recaps that go into more details. Again, that’s if I’m able to keep the motivation. Yesterday was a lot of fun, but I also recognize that mentally I am struggling. More on that in a separate video. If you like it, please give the video on YouTube a 👍 and please watch it entirely…YouTube’s algorithm stuff…

3 weeks since my bike accident. The recovery is going well, albeit too slow for my liking, but when it is fast enough?
Patience is the name of the game. I want to thank everyone who has messaged us, donated to our GoFundMe, or got meals delivered to our house. To say that it's been challenging would be an understatement, but the support we have received and are still receiving is nothing short of amazing. Thank you all! I will keep documenting my recovery and what's next...when I know it! We are doing everything we can for me to recover fully!

It has been 8 days since the accident. Despite the challenging circumstances, I am maintaining a positive mindset and actively working towards healing and recovery. Originally, my plan was to kick off my season in Taiwan by the end of April. I am now aiming to regain my strength and readiness for one of the premier triathlon races, Challenge Roth, scheduled for July 7th.

With medical bills beginning to accumulate, adjustments to our daily routine are needed as my ability to contribute is VERY limited. I am unable to care for my son (I can't even shower on my own). This forced us to increase daycare arrangements. Additionally, my recovery journey is going to require more and more therapies such as physical therapy, acupuncture, massages, therapy, and more.

A friend of ours kindly offered to help set up a GoFundMe page to help us with expenses related to my accident and recovery. I wasn't sure at first if I wanted to have one, but the reality is that we need help.

I would deeply appreciate any support you can offer, whether it's through sharing this fundraiser within your social network or any other means. Any help, no matter how small, will help us a lot.

Thanks!

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters, I'm reaching out to you today on behalf … Caroline Keim needs your support for Support Kevin's Road to Recovery

I crashed on the bike this week.

I didn’t break a single bone in 37 years. On Tuesday that changed: collarbone, scapula, and 2 ribs. I also have a bruise on my right lung. I crashed on the bike and was taken to the ER, and later was admitted to a trauma center in a different hospital. I can’t thank the 2 amazing good samaritans enough who stopped to help me, called 911 and stayed with me until the paramedics arrived. If you happen to read this post, please reach out. Drinks on me! The medical team, from the paramedics to the docs, nurses, and more have been top notch. It’s going to be a long road but we’ll take it. It could have ended worse.
To my coach thank you for the incredible support from afar. Mariesa and I are very grateful for you.
Mariesa and Atlas dropped everything they were doing (sleeping 😃) and came by my side, cheered me on, and reassured me. I felt ashamed about the situation, but Mariesa ALWAYS finds the right words to appease me. can always be counted on when 💩 happens and today was no different. I’m grateful for our friendship, bud.

The 2024 season will need to wait a little longer. One of the first people I contacted was from because they feel like family to me. I felt the need to let them know. I’ll do my best to come back stronger and show it on the course this year, guys.

Onwards. It’s a big bump on the road but I won’t let it define 2024.

I'm finally BACK riding my triathlon bike on the roads and it feels SO GOOD! I've documented my first proper training day since I was cleared to train again after COVID. Full day of swimming with a baseline check as I started working with Frontpackswim to help me break my plateau in the water, and then a 1h40min bike ride with some lactate checks to see where the base is, and a nice run to wrap up the day. It's good to feel like things are getting back to normal.
Hard efforts in the water, a cybertruck with a surfboard in the trunk, a Lamborghini enjoying a sunset drive along PCH..Check out my video recap of how my day went.

First real training day with a test swim, some lactate checks on the bike and a run to end the day with some pacing. Very happy to be back to proper training...

3 weeks in the life of a pro triathlete 😃
3 weeks of structured and consistent training after COVID. I go over how it went and chose to be vulnerable in this video to talk about my mental health. 2024 has not been off to a good start but I WILL change the course and WILL have a great season, regardless of how GREAT looks like. It'll be defined on December 31!

After the camp Ken asked for the raw GoPro and drone footage of the camp. I captured a lot of footage 😃 and he geeked out to create this video recap of what was an absolutely epic camp! 5 days with amazing athletes. They trained a lot, gave lots of high 5s, ate a lot, and asked for more. Grateful they entrusted me with their training for 5 days, and looking forward to another epic camp in early 2024!

One of my athletes who joined the camp this winter created this 5min video of our epic 5-day tri camp in beautiful San Diego! He merely asked for the raw GoP...

The 2023 winter tri camp may be over but it’s hard not to reminisce on what was an amazing week with amazing athletes. May have to do it again, because I had a blast with Ken, Jim, Maria 🇷🇺, Marco 🇮🇹 , Gillian, Kris, Andrew, Stefan 🇩🇪 , and Alex 🇨🇦 ! And of course with the best support crew with Mariesa and Bb, our massage therapist Steve, and the works best mechanic Yao 🇯🇵 .
