I had an incredible time cheering on Ross on Saturday and getting a behind-the-scenes look at all the race day action. From the energy at the track to seeing everything that goes into race day, it was such an awesome experience.

After the race, I loved handing out watermelon slices to fans at Grottos alongside Ross and the Delaware Office of Highway Safety. There’s nothing better than connecting with race fans and sharing a sweet treat after an exciting night at the track!🍉🏁

It was a great day on set filming a commercial with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety and the Use Your Melon campaign, alongside Ross Chastain. The project focused on promoting safe driving and awareness leading into the upcoming NASCAR All-Star Race weekend. Grateful to be part of a message that emphasizes safety and responsibility both on and off the track, and looking forward to seeing the final production!

Cooper River Bridge Run Recap:

Saturday morning was spent handing out fresh watermelon to 40,000 incredible runners, with 18,000 cups totaling 4,500 pounds of cut watermelon.

Watermelon is a naturally hydrating snack that supports muscle recovery while delivering key nutrients such as vitamins C and A.

I am so grateful for this weekend and the opportunity to bond with my fellow sister queens. A huge thank you to the South Carolina Watermelon Association, Harris Teeter, and the Cooper River Bridge Run for making this experience possible.🍉🏃‍♀️

Our first day in Charleston started with exploring the beautiful streets of downtown, soaking in the sights.

We then headed to the Cooper River Bridge Run Expo, where we had an amazing time handing out fresh watermelon with Harris Teeter and helping everyone get excited for race day.

Our final day of Promotional Queen/Ambassador Training began with a presentation from Dr. Gilbert Miller, where we learned about the behind-the-scenes production, science, and research involved in watermelon production. We also had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A and hear a grower’s perspective from Mr. Lee Wroten of Global Produce. Thank you both for sharing your valuable insight and experience with us!

After a great morning of learning, we headed to Epcot to explore and go on Disney’s Behind the Seeds Tour. During the tour, we walked through the greenhouses, learned about Disney’s aquaponics system, and even spotted where Disney grows watermelon!

A huge thank you to the National Watermelon Promotion Board for sponsoring me this weekend, hosting such an incredible training, and treating us to an amazing day at Disney. None of this would have been possible without your support.

2026 Watermelon Promotional Queen/Ambassador Training ✅

Yesterday was filled with learning, growing, and diving deep into what it truly takes to represent the watermelon industry with knowledge, confidence, and professionalism.

We kicked off the day with an incredibly informative session from former South Carolina Watermelon Queen Blakely Atkinson, who shared helpful advice and gave an amazing “Queen 101” talk. To wrap up the day, we discussed social media tips and participated in promotional mock scenarios.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Stephanie Barlow, Ms. Julimar Rosado, Ms. Andrea Smith, Mrs. Summer Walker, Ms. Janelle Lee, and the entire National Watermelon Promotion Board for the time, dedication, and care you put into organizing this training. We are incredibly grateful for the resources, insight, and encouragement you shared, which helped us feel confident, prepared, and eager to represent the watermelon industry throughout the year. Your support truly means so much to us!

We ended the day with an amazing dinner at Bonefish Grill and then headed to Magic Kingdom to watch the fireworks, which was the perfect way to close out such a special and inspiring day.🍉✨

Hello everyone! I am truly honored to introduce myself as your 2026 Mar-Del Watermelon Queen, Avery Kerrick!

I am from Greenwood, Delaware, and currently a sophomore at the University of Kentucky studying Agricultural Education and Advocacy with a minor in Community and Leadership Development. I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to represent the Mar-Del Watermelon Association and to be part of such a sweet sisterhood.
