Thank you to everyone who attended the Day of the Dead San Antonio Catrinas on the River Parade! Our members had a great time honoring the significance of the day. They volunteered to set up all the chairs for families and friends to enjoy. See you soon!

Day of the Dead San Antonio 2019

From November 1st-3rd 2019, San Antonio is hosting Day of the Dead.

The weekend will begin on Friday November 1st, as the multi-day celebration begins around the world, San Antonio will host its first ever “Catrinas on the River.” The parade will dress the city’s infamous barges and showcase the colorful hallmarks of Day of the Dead down along the River Walk: skeletons, skulls, candles, incense, marigolds, pan de mu**to and everything in between. The parade will end at the Arneson Theatre with La Danza de Las Mojigangas (read “giant dancing skeletal figures”), across from the historic La Villita neighborhood, which will be entirely re-purposed for a weekend of Día de Mu***os entertainment.

Our weekend program is full of activities for children, performances, live music, drinks and gastronomical treats, altars, artistic exhibitions and of course, the history and culture of the celebration. Everyone is welcome and families are expressly encouraged to visit – this holiday and its celebration in our community is made for them!
