Dear Music Lovers:

At the 7th Annual San Antonio Summer Art & Jazz Festival, llc., I instituted the San Antonio Summer Art & Jazz Festival Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing great artists and musicians such as Patsy Torres, Ken Slaven, and benefactors who gave back to the art and music industry here in San Antonio. Continuing in that tradition, SAS FEST this year will be recognizing George Prado, guitar bassist with the Regency Jazz Band. We will also be presenting a Memorial plaque recognizing Kyle Keener, percussionist with Small World. These two great musicians have donated a large portion of their lives to the music industry giving back to San Antonio, making this city a much better place for all of us.

An In Memoriam Award will be presented to Kyle Keener’s spouse, Peggy Keener, and a second plaque will be presented to Mr. Keener’s long-time friend and co-performer of almost 50 years, Polly Harrison, acoustic guitarist. George Prado will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award after these presentations.
Please, join us at Sam's Burger Joint, located at 330 East Grayson Street, on Saturday, December 21st at 8:00 p.m., for these major award presentations. A special thanks to Sam’s Burger Joint for allowing SAS FEST to give these presentations at their great venue.

A very special thanks to Ken Slavin for allowing us to present these great awards during his Ken Slavin's Swinging' Holiday Show at Sam's Burger Joint and my fabulous friend, Doc Watkins, for generously allowing us to have this event at his venue at JazzTX in 2025.

We are going to miss this guy. Kyle was one of San Antonio's best on vocals and drums with a great heart to boot. Only a few jazz bands had an open invitation to perform every other year at the San Antonio Summer Art & Jazz Festival, and Small World under the direction of Kyle Keener was one of those bands. Kyle was easy going and had a great personalty and was loved by everyone he met and he will be deeply missed by family, friends and the entire San Antonio Community.

We wish condolences to his family and friends.
