Mindy Creek Race Recap – 2025
Mindy Creek extends a heartfelt thank you to all the runners and the many volunteers who made this year’s race such a huge success! We had smiling, hard-working people helping in every area throughout the day, and their attention to detail made everything run smoothly.
The 2025 event blessed us with excellent weather—65 degrees, partly cloudy skies, and a gentle breeze. It also brought us a record number of runners, plenty of smiles at the finish line, and yes… even a few bees! If you were stung, count your blessings that you aren’t Kay Kelly, who set the record with 11 stings today on the course!
Marathon
Tim Maguire dominated the men’s marathon, winning by nearly 17 minutes in a time of 3:52:34. His effort now ranks #9 on the all-time top ten performances list. In the women’s race, Becky Stromseth claimed victory with a strong 4:45:34.
Half Marathon
The half marathon had the biggest field with 78 finishers. In the men’s race, Ben Drexler and Dan LaPlante crossed the line together, sharing the win as part of a training run for Ben’s upcoming 100-miler later this year.
The women’s half marathon was one of the most exciting battles we’ve seen, with the top three separated by only 1 minute and 40 seconds—and just 6 seconds between first and second! Jenna Lueke came out on top in 2:01:21, earning a spot at #7 on the all-time list. Delaney (2nd place) and Marret (3rd place) also moved into the top ten women’s half marathon performances.
Two young stars also shined in the half marathon—both only 13 years old! Congratulations to Levi Cerra and Natalie Eichten on their fantastic finishes.
10K
The men’s 10K nearly saw a new course record as Anthony Schramm pulled away from the field, finishing in 46:30—just 10 seconds shy of the record. In the women’s race, Shelia Larson ran strong to win in 1:02:34.
Closing Out the Day
As always, the final honor of the day went to Jim Wilson, who proudly earned the coveted DFL (Dead Last Finisher) award in the marathon.
As race director, one of my greatest joys is giving every runner a high five as they cross the finish line. If I missed you this year, please accept a virtual high five, and I promise to deliver the real thing next time we meet!
Mark your calendars—race day registration for 2026 opens the day after Thanksgiving.
Thank you again for being part of the Mindy Creek community. See you next year!
