New Millennium Concert Series

Just a quick note to say that three of the four concerts for New Millennium 2026 have now been scheduled. The fourth will be scheduled in the coming days, and tickets will go on sale soon after that. We're excited to see you all next year!

Thursday, Feb 12th: VOICES OF MUSIC

A Valentine's Day celebration of Italian and English love songs from the 17th century, featuring renowned soprano Amanda Forsythe and an all-star ensemble of period instrumentalists led by violinist Augusta McKay Lodge.

Tuesday, March 3rd: TELEGRAPH QUARTET

Previous recipients of the prestigious Walter Naumburg Chamber Music Award and Grand Prize at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, Telegraph's program for us will feature Beethoven's monumental Quartet Op. 59 No. 1.

Monday, March 30th: DAVID FINCKEL & WU HAN

Virtuoso performers and co-directors of Music@Menlo and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han will perform sonatas by Debussy and Chopin, and a rare sonata by Benjamin Britten composed for Mstislav Rostropovich.

NEW MILLENNIUM 2024 NOW FULLY BOOKED
With the addition of concerts by Nomad Sessions with Jeff Anderle and the Jupiter Quartet, all four dates have now been booked for next year's New Millennium Series. We're thrilled by the lineup we've assembled, and we'll send out a formal Series announcement with all the details when tickets go on sale in the near future. SAVE THE DATES for DAVID FINCKEL & WU-HAN on FEB 13th and the ORION STRING QUARTET on MARCH 25th!

Chamber music power couple David Finckel, cello, and Wu-Han, piano, will open our 25th season with a program featuring sonatas by Beethoven, Greig, and Shostakovich. These works demand musical communication and cohesion at its highest level and this deeply collaborative repertoire mirrors the duo's lives as artistic partners and co-artistic directors of Music@Menlo and The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Their creative chemistry and musical excellence has made them beloved by audiences on both coasts.

One of the most acclaimed and influential chamber music ensembles in classical music, the Orion String Quartet, will conclude its illustrious 36-year career with a Farewell Performance on April 2nd with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) at Alice Tully Hall. We are thrilled and honored to have been chosen to host their penultimate concert. This legendary ensemble will perform an epic program: Schubert’s G Major Quartet and Beethoven’s Opus 130 Quartet plus the Grosse Fugue.

New Millennium 2022 concludes tomorrow night with the dynamic Telegraph Quartet, winnners of both the Naumburg and Fischoff Prizes. The program will feature John Harbisons' String Quartet No. 6, Florence Price's Five Folk Songs in Counterpoint, and the Ravel String Quartet.

Tickets are still available for purchase online, or at the door if any seats remain. Come join us to hear this stellar young ensemble. (Masks are required for unvaccinated patrons.)

New Millennium 2022 kicks off tomorrow evening at 7:30, with what we are sure will be a stirring recital by tenor Paul Appleby and pianist Conor Hanick, to mark the return of the Series after our long hiatus! The program will feature Schumann and Schubert songs, Berg’s Altenberg Lieder, and Beethoven’s celebrated lone song cycle, An die ferne Geliebte.

The performance will take place in our usual location, the Sacramento State Capistrano Concert Hall. Please be advised that PROOF OF VACCINATION will be required at the door, and MASKS MUST BE WORN at all times in the concert hall and lobby.
