Today is Su***de Awareness Day. We want to pause and think about those who served our country who lost their lives to su***de. We also want to share with our active military and veterans, how much we appreciate your family’s sacrifice and your sacrifice for freedom. Please know there is help. It comes in many forms. From out door excursion , commradery Continue Mission, EMDR, Brain therapy Cognitive FX, Drug rehab ( Steps Recovery Centers) and so many more. What works for one may not work for another . But don’t give up. The biggest form of healing comes from giving yourself grace, working to heal wounds from TBI to PTSD and talking about the affects it has on your family and getting help. So many families suffer from the affects of PTSD. Your families love you, they give you grace. Give yourself grace and know what you are struggling with so many others are also. Please most of all chose this day to always STAY. When someone takes their life it is the continuation of the devastation of war. Please STAY! We love you . 🇺🇸

Happy Father’s Day to our Veteran Fathers! We are so grateful every day you decide to stay, to fight for the family, to overcome the hard things you have been through. We love you, we need you in our lives, even when you think you are failing, having you here is what we need. You bring more security to your families than you can imagine, just having you there . We love you and want you to love yourselves. Thank you for staying , for not giving up, for being here with your families even when you struggle. Thank you for fighting to survive for your families. You never know how your actions can change someone’s life. This couple right here probably had as much effect on my life as my own parents. My parents raised me and a lot of who I am is because of them. But because of these two people, Alvin and Maria Henshaw, my adult life has taken form. In college I had broken up with a boyfriend, I was teaching dance to children in my hometown. I had just graduated college and I felt like I had missed my opportunity to meet someone. I was pretty sad that Summer, when Alvin and Maria came to visit. Alvin took me in a drive and had a good long talk with me , and when we got back Maria was insistent that I go visit her daughter Tina. Tina was my childhood friend, but had moved away to Utah. So because of Maria, I got a ticket and went to visit my girlfriend Tina. While there we contemplated how to fix my problem. Tina and Wally were anxious to help me find the next phase of my life. When school started back I went back home and started teaching Dance again. Tina called and invited me back over Christmas break. I flew out and her parents were visiting at the same time. The last night I was in town Maria and Alvin took us to dinner. While there a good looking guy walked in. He caught my eye. Then Wally went over and started talking to him and brought him back to our table. Quietly where no one could hear Maria set me up with this man I had just met! The rest is history, that’s how I met Kevin.
Last week Maria and Alvin were in a terrible car crash and lost their lives. They were both declining in health and although this was so traumatic , I’m so thankful they are together . I’m know my Dad was there to welcome them home and Alvin and Him had a strong hug . I owe both of these people so much! Especially Maria. She literally changed the complete course of my life. I have my children , my husband, the life I live all because she cared. I love them both so much . To have friends that love you like family is everything .
