Earlier this year, a wind storm caused significant damage to the roof of our information booth at the festival venue As we are only event held here, we weighed our options for rebuilding or tearing down the booth. Josh and Erin of Wild Roots Cafe and Wild Wonderful Off Grid graciously donated their time, materials, and expertise to erect the support beams. The bluegrass festival's success is largely due to the strong connections and collaborations within our small town. Bruce Nicholson passed away Sunday after a brief illness. If you ever attended or had any connection with the bluegrass festival, you most likely encountered Bruce. As the previous Parks & Recreation director, it was his idea to start a 4th of July event for our community that morphed into one of the largest events in our county and one of the most popular bluegrass festivals and firework shows in our area. Bruce could always be relied upon to motivate the committee to get the ball rolling every year, and then act as the ultimate utility player and perfect gopher to tie up all loose ends and do whatever we needed him to do. He was always excited to help in the days leading up to the event and stood proud of what we accomplished as the attendees exited after the fireworks show. He will be greatly missed! Thank You Bruce for a wonderful 17 years and creating a event that we all can be proud of! RiP.
