Visions Filmworks presents Dhajea Phairee as Shay in The 8 God: For the Love of Hip-Hop.

Shay is Ziya’s ride-or-die friend — quick-witted, protective, honest, and never afraid to say what needs to be said.

Dhajea brings humor, heart, and a natural chemistry to the role that makes the friendship between Shay and Ziya feel real. Her performance adds warmth and personality to the story while giving Ziya a trusted voice she can lean on.

Visions Filmworks presents Sharod Briggs as DJ Lean in The 8 God: For the Love of Hip-Hop.

DJ Lean is one of the first people to challenge Rap God’s place in the circle. Protective of the music, protective of the culture, and not easily impressed, he brings tension, humor, and personality into the story.

Sharod took what began as a supporting role and made it his own, bringing charisma, improvisation, and a natural screen presence that helped DJ Lean become one of the film’s standout characters.

Coming Soon...

A still of Amanda Delore as Keisha in The 8 God: For the Love of Hip-Hop.

Keisha was the final role to be filled for the film — but last, in this case, definitely does not mean least.

I needed someone who could bring beauty, confidence, sass, and intelligence to the screen. Someone who could have the presence of a siren, but still feel sharp, aware, and in control.

Amanda checked every box.

She stepped into the role with the right energy and gave Keisha exactly what the character needed — charm, attitude, and a presence that stands out.

Coming soon…

BTS from the last scheduled filming day of The 8 God: For the Love of Hip-Hop.

We had a few pickups here and there after this, but according to the shooting schedule, this was the final day. Atalaya, Fro, John, Sharod, and myself — all tired, all pushing through, but we got it done.

Independent filmmaking is a journey. Long days, moving pieces, unexpected challenges, and a whole lot of faith. But moments like this remind you why it’s worth it.

Great times. Amazing journey.
