Race the Yak - Jet Boat racing on the Yakima River

Race the Yak - Jet Boat racing on the Yakima River Dedicated to setting up jet boat racing on the lower Yakima River. We look to set up a race leg from Columbia Point to Snively Rd boat launch.

It would be approx 18 miles.

As the time draws closer, we will need volunteers on land and in the water. Here's what we'll need:
1-Safety boats with an EMT on board
2-Sweep boat to follow behind the race pack after each leg to ensure no broken down racers and checks the course.
3- Timers and flaggers on land
4- Pit and ramp officials.
5- cleanup crew.
6- Communications experts. To help boats communicate. Experience with HAM and marine radios.

I've been getting some questions about spectatorship and if it's free or not. These races are free to watch from anywhere on the shoreline. We do ask that you stay back at least 50 from the water for safety. Spectators are allowed to roam the starting point as well although certain area will be roped off so the boat crews can work. There will be a show n shine that's free for all to attend which will give you a chance to see the boats up close and meet the crews. Merchandise will be for sale throughout the event as well.
