📣 Introducing the cast and director of PTF’s first show of the 2026 season, THE MONSTERS by Ngozi Anyanwu!

Featuring:

BRANDON ST. CLAIR as Big
ALLISON JONES as Lil*

Directed by LEANDRA TORRES SANTIAGO

After years apart, two siblings reunite—drawn back together by a shared past that refuses to stay buried. Big, now a professional fighter, has built a life around discipline and control. When he begins to draw his sister into that world, something unexpected begins to take hold: a new sense of purpose, and a fragile path toward connection neither of them fully understands.

🥊 THE MONSTERS is a fierce and intimate play about family, identity, and what it means to fight for a way back to one another.

We’re thrilled to present this production in Portland Stage Company’s Studio Theater.

THE MONSTERS opens June 25 and runs through July 12.

📣 We’re thrilled to announce PTF’s 6th Season—and this one feels like something special.

It was a busy, rewarding off-season: watching plays, reading new work, building relationships with artists we admire. Through all of it, we kept coming back to the same question: what can theater offer us right now that feels useful? This season, we think we’ve found three answers.

These are plays about the “monsters” we live alongside—the past that lingers, the habits that take hold, the systems that test our collective values. Plays about confronting truth: in the wider world, in ourselves, in where we’ve come from and how it still defines us. Three strikingly different works, and one question running through all of them: what are the forces that shape our lives—and what does it take to face them?

1️⃣ THE MONSTERS by Ngozi Anyanwu (June 25–July 12) Two siblings. A shared past that won’t stay buried. A fierce, intimate play about family, identity, and fighting your way back to one another. Presented in the Studio Theater .

2️⃣ OCTET by Dave Malloy (July 23–Aug 9)—PTF’s first musical! Eight strangers. A support group for internet addiction. A haunting, exhilarating a ca****la musical about what we lose when we drift from each other—and what it takes to return. Staged immersively in the basement of the .

3️⃣ AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE by Henrik Ibsen, adapted by Amy Herzog (Aug 20–Sept 6) Fresh from a sold-out Broadway run, this searing adaptation feels like it was written yesterday. A doctor uncovers a truth that could upend his town—and speaking out costs everything. Presented at the brand-new Crewe Center for the Arts on ‘s Portland campus!

We’re also launching the USM/PTF Apprentice Program this summer—a paid, immersive opportunity for emerging artists from USM. Creating pathways for the next generation is essential to the future of this field, and we can’t wait to see it come to life.

Tickets and full details coming soon. See you this summer!

🌱 Spring is here and signs of PTF’s SIXTH summer season are everywhere.

We had a busy winter—seeing and reading amazing plays, gathering inspiration, narrowing down our choices—and we can’t wait to share (very soon!) the three shows we’ve selected and the three exciting venues in Portland where we’ll be staging them this summer.

Stay tuned in the coming days for that official announcement, then keep an eye out for audition info, news about PTF’s exciting new partnerships, and more we’ve got in store!

🍁 Summer fades away, but we’re still feeling the *momentum* of our incredible fifth season.

From PRIMARY TRUST to MAKE BELIEVE to DEEP BLUE SOUND, our audiences grew bigger and bigger, filling every seat and reminding us why we do this work.

This season affirmed our mission: to reimagine what theater can be—timely, actor-driven stories brought to life in spaces that make the experience unforgettable.

Most of all, we’re grateful—for our community partners, our sponsors, and you, our audience, who said “yes” and lifted us higher.

Here’s to the next season, the next stage, and the magic we’ll create together.

The DEEP BLUE SOUND ferry departed for its last ride last Sunday, capping an extraordinary sold out run that drew over 1,000 audience members to the rocky shores of Mackworth Island.

Thank you for loving these island townsfolk—and the cast and crew who brought them to life—as much as we loved sharing their stories with you.
What struck us most throughout production was the range of your responses—how resonant you found the story, and the varied reasons why.

As the ride rolls out on Mackworth, it’s hard to believe that this marks the end of PTF’s fifth season. We’re still reflecting on this phenomenal summer of theater—easily our most successful to date—so bear with us as we catch our breath a little bit. We’ll have more to say soon about the landmark season that YOU made possible and about what’s in store for PTF in the months ahead.

Until then-a sincere thank you to all who have carried us to this moment. Five years…here’s to five more.

🌊The island is calling 🌊

This creative team of over 25 artists has spent the last month plumbing the depths of DEEP BLUE SOUND, and now, this Thursday, the gates of Mackworth Isand finally swing open. Staged with immersive ingenuity in the historic Baxter School for the Deaf, DEEP BLUE SOUND is a singular theatrical event you don’t want to miss.

On account of unprecedented demand, only 30% of our entire ticket stock remains for this production. If you’ve waited until now, stop reading this and reserve your seats—we’re anticipating a fully sold out run!

Running this Thursday August 28 - September 14 at Baxter School for the Deaf on Mackworth Island in Falmouth. Remaining tickets available through the link in our bio.

PTF is thrilled to announce the launch of its first annual NEW WORKS LAB—a new company initiative dedicated to the cultivation of new plays from bold voices working in contemporary theater.

Join us this Saturday at 5PM for an intimate reading of CONTROL by Kallan Dana, directed by Francesca Sabel. CONTROL finds six air-traffic controllers in a dark, windowless radar room as they push tin and stave off paranoia. CONTROL takes an inside look at the private lives of the people who (hopefully) keep your plane in the air.

Join us for the reading, along with a Q/A conversation with the creative team. Don’t miss this unique chance to immerse into the development process of a new play and chat with the artists making it happen! Seating is FREE but LIMITED and available on a first-come-first-served basis. Reserve using the Google link in our bio.
