America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration

America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration will occur in Plymouth, Massachusetts the weekend before
(222)

Our mission is to educate the public while preserving our country’s important history, starting with the Pilgrim legacy and Thanksgiving story while recognizing all those who have fought to protect the American way of life. We will accomplish this goal by producing a Thanksgiving celebration of excellence in Plymouth, America’s Hometown, where Thanksgiving began. Through concerts honoring military

sacrifice and a parade chronicling the Pilgrim legacy, spectators will leave with a sense of history and pride. The Annual America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration is held at the birthplace of Thanksgiving, Plymouth, Massachusetts on the weekend before Thanksgiving, November 22-24th, 2013. The weekend of festivities has become a beloved holiday occasion as well as an important link to our nation’s history and heritage. For years, hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life have traveled to the historic Plymouth Harbor and Waterfront to experience a bounty of authentic Americana. The celebration of Thanksgiving becomes history-brought-to-life as Pilgrims, Native Americans, Soldiers, Patriots, and Pioneers proudly climb out of the history books and onto the streets of Plymouth.

We're inspired by the incredible turn-out at the 16th Annual Patriot Week Gala at Encore Boston Harbor. The evening was a powerful reminder of the dedication shown by our military members, veterans, and community leaders.

Again, a special congratulations to Olavo "Olly" DeMacedo, Executive Director of America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration, for receiving the Christine Devlin Gold Star Family Support Award, alongside all the other phenomenal 2026 honorees.

Through his leadership, our annual Thanksgiving parade has been elevated to a profound new level—not just as a celebration, but as a moving tribute that honors local POWs, and veterans who carry the heavy weight of sacrifice.

As a quiet and humble leader, Olly doesn’t seek the spotlight or the headlines. He simply does what is right and what is good, accepting this honor not just for himself, but on behalf of the entire community and everyone who remembers the price that has been paid for our freedom.

Thank you, Olly, for your unwavering gratitude, your humility, and your dedication to keeping the legacy of our heroes alive.

This past Wednesday, the community gathered at the Encore Boston Harbor for the 16th Annual Patriot Week Gala. From the breathtaking performance by the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon to the deeply moving award recipients, it was a night filled with reverence, pride, and celebration

Honoring the Heart behind the Scene of America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration, our very own Olly DeMacedo received the Christine Devlin Gold Star Family Support Award. Olly’s dedication to our veterans and Gold Star families is incredibly personal. Arriving in America as a 7-year-old immigrant, he grew up with a deep, lifelong appreciation for the opportunities and freedoms this country provides. Wanting to give back to the land that gave his family so much, Olly dedicated himself to ensuring that the true cost of that freedom is never forgotten.

Celebrating the Majesty of Yellowstone!🌲 Take a look at this stunning tribute to the great outdoors!

This float from our 2022 parade celebrated the 150th Anniversary of Yellowstone, established in 1872 as the first national park in the United States (and the world!).

Spanning across Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, Yellowstone was set aside to preserve its unique geothermal wonders—like Old Faithful—and its incredible wildlife for generations to come. By creating Yellowstone, the U.S. sparked a global movement to protect natural beauty, proving that some landscapes are so special they belong to everyone.

That single "best idea" has grown into a massive legacy. Because of the trail blazed by Yellowstone, we now have 63 National Parks across the USA, protecting millions of acres of wilderness from coast to coast! 🏔️

We love bringing the spirit of the American wilderness to the streets of Plymouth.

A Dream that Transformed a Nation🕊️
As we continue to look back at the most impactful moments in our parade’s history, this float stands out as a powerful reminder of courage and progress.

We were honored to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s timeless "I Have a Dream" speech.

Dr. King’s leadership was a turning point in our nation’s history. By championing nonviolence and racial equality, he challenged America to live up to its founding promise that all people are created equal. His words on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial didn't just define an era; they reshaped our laws, our hearts, and our future.

Bringing this vision to life on our streets allows us to reflect on how far we’ve come and the work that continues today. We are proud to share these stories of the people and moments that have defined the American spirit.

A Plymouth Icon on the Move! If you’ve joined us for the parade before, you surely recognize this local treasure. We love highlighting the Plymouth Antiquarian Society float—a true staple of our event that holds a very special place in the heart of our town.

This float beautifully showcases the Hedge House, a stunning example of Federal-style architecture that has overlooked the Plymouth waterfront since 1809. As stewards of our local history since 1919, the Plymouth Antiquarian Society works tirelessly to preserve the historic sites and stories that make our community so unique.

Seeing this landmark "walk" down the parade route is a reminder of the wonderful heritage we share right here in Plymouth.

History in Motion: Honoring the Faith of the Pilgrims!

Take a look back at this incredible tribute! This float was designed to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the National Monument to the Forefathers.

Standing tall in Plymouth since its completion in 1889, the monument is a powerful symbol of the virtues that guided the Pilgrims: Faith, Morality, Law, Education, and Liberty. Recreating this massive granite landmark as a parade float allowed us to bring a piece of Plymouth’s permanent skyline right to the streets for everyone to see.

It was a proud moment for us to honor the legacy of those who came before us and the enduring history of our hometown.

We’re casting a net back to this fan-favorite float! ⚓🦞

History runs deep in our waters. This design was a tribute to the Fish and Lobster Trade, a vital part of our heritage that dates all the way back to 1621. From the early days of the colonies to the bustling trade of today, we wanted to honor the generations of fishermen who have shaped our coastal community.

It’s amazing to look back at how we’ve brought these historic milestones to life on the streets of Plymouth!
