Now on to Atomic vaults mix #7: Layo & Bushwacka! This was a masterclass in multi-genre mixing! They played house, tech-house, funky breaks, techno & synthpop on vinyl for over 3 hrs. Sadly, only 3 sides of 90 minute audio tapes were recorded, though.

Layo & Bushwacka, the dynamic British DJ/production duo, have left an indelible mark on electronic music with their innovative sounds. Layo Paskin & Matthew Benjamin joined forces in the late 90s. They quickly gained recognition for their distinctive style, blending elements of house, techno, & breakbeat. The success of debut album, "Low Life," in 1999 featuring the iconic track "Love Story’’ catapulted them to international stardom with an array of follow up albums, mixes & singles also garnering critical & dancefloor acclaim.

They were instrumental in shaping the electronic music landscape through their influential residency at London's iconic club, The End, while also performing at major festivals & clubs across the globe.

L&B's enduring legacy is a testament to their unwavering commitment to electronic music. Their music continues to resonate with fans, and their impact on the genre remains as potent as ever.

We leave Detroit and move out to the West with our next classic set from the Atomic vaults! This one is quite different than any of the others in that it is a mash up from The Bombshelter DJs (Z-Trip, Radar & DJ Emile). From the amazing turntablism & breaks at the beginning to Jamiroquai, funky house, classic techno like 'Spastik', early jungle/rave, tribal beats & acid...it's all in there and more!

These guys helped pioneer the mash up concept in the US and continue to do so individually all while remixing/producing with some of the biggest artists in the world and winning accolades such as 'America's Best DJ' (Z-Trip in the DJ Times). Many will remember their set at the outdoor Western PA rave 'Era' two days later. It is still talked about today!

Here's set #2 from our Atomic club night archives. This time it's an incredible set from Stacey Pullen (Blackflag Recordings, Detroit) from June 2000.

There aren't any fun stories like the last one with Dave Angel modifying Rob Grega's turntables before Atomic, but I do have a funny story about waking up Stacey Pullen in his hotel room at a chaotic (to say the least) Local 13 party in the Poconos in Pennsylvania back in the day. You can ask me, Bob Lenart or Damian (Dieselboy) about it but let's just say Stacey wasn't happy to see us at 3am...

Anyway this set rocks! It even closes with Wink's 'How's Your Evening So Far?' which is a track we hope Josh plays at Atomic 25 Year Anniversary: Josh Wink on Fri Sept 29th at Spirit presented by Longturn Music, House of Styles & Five Star Productions.
