Sandhills Motoring Expo Donates $10,000 to FirstHealth Foundation’s Neuro CARE Fund Through “Road to Giving” Initiative

Pinehurst, NC – June,24, 2025 — The Sandhills Motoring Expo is proud to announce a charitable donation of $10,000 to the FirstHealth Foundation’s Neuro CARE Fund as part of its annual Road to Giving philanthropic program. This year’s contribution will directly support critical neurological care initiatives, including programming for individuals living with dementia and Parkinson’s disease across the FirstHealth system.

The Neuro CARE Fund is a vital resource that helps underwrite innovative and life-enhancing services such as Engaged Brains, a cognitive wellness program led by neuropsychologist Dr. Karen Sullivan, and Rock Steady Boxing, a fitness-based therapy program designed specifically for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. These programs empower patients through proactive, research-based engagement in both mental and physical wellness.

“Our mission with the Sandhills Motoring Expo extends beyond celebrating automotive excellence,” said Christopher Smith, Expo Commissioner. “Through our Road to Giving initiative, we’re committed to driving real impact in our community. We’re honored to support the Neuro CARE Fund and the life-changing work it fuels right here in Moore County.”

Engaged Brains, which has reached hundreds of participants, is a national model for proactive cognitive care, providing early intervention strategies and support for those at risk or in the early stages of cognitive decline. Meanwhile, Rock Steady Boxing offers patients a unique and empowering way to fight back against Parkinson’s symptoms through non-contact boxing training.

Sandhills Motoring Expo Drives $2.3 Million Economic Impact in Moore County

Pinehurst, NC - June 2025 :: After a recent economic study by the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area CVB and analysis by IMPLAN, the Sandhills Motoring Expo is proud to announce that its 2025 event generated an estimated $2.3 million in economic impact for Moore County. This milestone reinforces the Expo’s growing reputation as not only a premier automotive celebration, but also a vital economic driver for the region.

Held over Memorial Day weekend, the Expo attracted thousands of automotive enthusiasts, collectors, and tourists to Pinehurst and surrounding areas. The multi-day event featured a curated lineup of experiences including the Block Party, Artisan Tour, Road Rally, Hangar Soirée, Airplanes & Automobiles, and the prestigious Concours in the Village. Local hotels, restaurants, retailers, and service providers all saw increased business as a direct result of the influx of visitors.

“This study confirms that the Expo delivers a significant benefit to the community,” said C.D. Smith, Expo Commissioner. “From lodging and dining to transportation and shopping, our attendees support local businesses. It’s an honor to bring so many people together around our shared passion for motoring while also boosting the local economy.”

The IMPLAN study measured direct, indirect, and induced economic activity generated by the event, including visitor spending, vendor activity, and operational investments. The $2.3 million total reflects a combined impact across multiple sectors.

As the Expo continues to grow, organizers are focused on deepening community partnership and enhancing programming to bring even greater returns to the region in years to come.

A crisp, clear morning set the stage for Airplanes and Automobiles at the Moore County Airport SOP last Saturday.

Our thanks to the Airport and their staff for hosting us, Mac's Breakfast Anytime for fueling us up, Bullseye Flight Team for the awesome flyover, Miss Moore County and Miss Sandhills Scholarship Organization for presenting the National Anthem, and to all of our entrants for displaying their beautiful automobiles!

Sandhills Motoring Festival

The Sandhills Motoring Festival (SMF) was initiated by Porsche Club of America member, Marvin Waters, and Mercedes Benz Club of America members, Steve Redwine and Bill Faison in 2018. Taking place over Memorial Day Weekend, it was a tremendously successful event with over 150 participants from North Carolina and from other areas along the East Coast. Members of both clubs participated in Cars & Coffee, a Southern BBQ with a Bluegrass Band, tours of local automotive facilities, road rallies, luncheons, awards dinner, and a car show in the Village of Pinehurst.

For Memorial Day Weekend 2019, the Sandhills Motoring Festival had a number of events lined up for every car enthusiast culminating in “Concours in the Village” on Sunday May 26th on the streets of the historic Village of Pinehurst. The 2019 Festival raised over $7,700 to benefit the Sandhills Community College Foundation and the Automotive Technologies Department.
