Pickpockets do not care about you. They do not care if they hurt you. They will do anything to get your valuables from you.
These photos were sent by a fellow RaveRunner and it can be assumed this is evidence of a slash-and-dash attempt. Although, this is not confirmed because the customer did not see the cuts until after they got home from the festival. However, they do remember someone being excessively nice to them and consistently commenting on their outfit. This is typical behavior for a pickpocket in an attempt to make their victim comfortable with them before they attempt to steal.
In the past year we have seen and heard pickpocketing get worse. It can be assumed with raving and music festivals becoming popular and entering the mainstream, more and more pickpockets view festivals to be an opportunity for them.
The customer who sent these said they were at beyond wonderland this weekend. It can be assumed the thief was having trouble getting into the bag (since we don’t put zipper access on the outside of our hydration pack design) and needed to find another way to get in.
The ripstop nylon was not able to be penetrated and it seems as if they were using a half-assed pocket knife to try to cut into the bag.
PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR YOURSELVES AT FESTIVALS.
If you do not have an anti-theft backpack. Here’s what we recommend.
· KEEP SPACE FROM OTHERS
- If you would like to venture to the front of the crowd or a mosh pit, we recommend only staying their temporarily. Often times, we leave our bags with 1-2 friends in the bag of the crowd in an area where it is easy to spot them. This way we can be floppy noodle necks without a worry in the world of our stuff getting taken.
·DON’T GET WAY TOO LIT
- If you plan of getting after it and pounding BeatBoxes, have your sober/slightly lit friend carry everything.
·UTILIZE A PHONE TETHER
- Clutchloop has been taking over the phone tether market and their product is BALLER. We partner with them and sell their product on our website as well.
