Cara Petonic after finishing the half marathon yesterday. She made her 2nd best time! Cara said the event got her hooked on long-distance running and she's been participating in the Run for Johanna every year since 2008. Congrats Cara!

Only one week left until the New York group runs the NYC marathon to fundraise for the Run for Johanna!! Please show them your support by making a donation online at http://www.runforjohanna.org to support the scholarship in her name at St. Malachys school in North Philly. This year is especially important because my neighbors Dan Pickens and Ina Lipman are running it for the last time. Dan and Ina have been enthusiastic leaders and an unstoppable organizational force for this event. My parents and I couldn't ask for better neighbors and friends!

37 years ago today, Johanna Louise Sigmund was born, fittingly, on what is the brightest and often most beautiful day of the year. Please say a prayer for her and honor her spirit with an act of kindness, joy, or just good a long run. Happy birthday Johanna!

Congrats to all of the runners who finsihed the NYC Marathon this past Sunday. Here's a great message from Dan Pickens about it:

"We did it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The four team members from Run for Johanna that were lucky enough to get into the NYC Marathon all finished the race – vertical.

Franny Glomb and Courtney McNulty were the speed demons, finishing in roughly 3:30, Franny a few minutes ahead and Courtney a few minutes behind. Yikes and Congratulations!! A great accomplishment that you should be extremely proud of.

Ina and I were a little slower. I came in at a little over 4 hours, and Ina a little over 5 hours. Not bad, considering."

Not bad at all. Thanks for the update Dan!
