Friday, June 5 — we’re doing something different, Philly.
Sofar Philly is taking over the glass-walled garden at (.florist) for a night inside the plants, under a ceiling you can still see the sky through. Intimate, enclosed, glowing — think secret greenhouse session, not a bar show.
The lineup is pure Philly-and-beyond songwriting:
Love? Said the Commander () — Kate Hall and Chris Bishop, the duo that builds soaring, graceful songs out of violin, intricate guitars and that commanding voice WXPN fell for first.
Birdie Busch () — Philly scene staple with honest, insightful songwriting and a delicate voice that’s opened for Dar Williams and Amos Lee. She’s been talking lately about her love for Germantown’s vibe, so this one feels like a homecoming.
() — Jersey-based Americana/folk/soul traveler behind the critically-acclaimed Songs of Travel for the Vagabond (No Depression nominee). Two decades on the road sharing stages with everyone from to Living Colour to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and he still makes a living room feel like a cathedral.
Three acts. One room full of flowers. Zero distractions.
Come early, stay late, bring someone who needs live music right now.

— Hudson River (.river): a highly talented vibraphonist from Upper Darby with a strong background in jazz, R&B and community driven approach to music making.

— Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise ( ): Philly’s own hip-hop poet and harpist duo blending soul, lo-fi, and 90s boom-bap with live harp and vibraphone throughout their set. Fresh off their new album Grow and named Philadelphia Magazine’s Best Rapper in 2022.

Sofar’s stepping out of the living room this week — and we’re heading west.

Join us Thursday, May 28th at 7:30pm at in downtown Ardmore for a sweet, low-key hang. We’re bringing the incredible () with us — TEDx performer, vocal coach, and the voice behind Sofar favorites and her recent “Twilight in the Gardens” series.

Forecast says 80 degrees and golden hour. Lu & Aug’s is an artisanal soft-serve spot open Thursdays 7:30 - 10pm, known for vegan vanilla, affogatos, and proper milkshakes; perfect for cooling down between songs.

No secret address this time, just good ice cream, good company, and Maya’s intimate set in the wild. Pull up, grab a shake, say hi.
See you in Ardmore.
