Steve really wanted to have a pair of these old Harmony/Gibson mini humbuckers installed in his Epiphone Al Caiola guitar, which came with P-90 pickups. After machining some holes in a repro set of dog ear covers, the leads on both pickups were replaced due the original insulation crumbling. Looks pretty good, sounds pretty good. The things we do for tone!

Finishing up the details on my guitar, and looking forward to attending the celebration.

After a guitar making hiatus, I am making a “79” model guitar for the upcoming Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery 50th anniversary. This guitar will feature rosewood which was procured by R-V’s founders decades ago and has been aged to perfection in the desert all these years. While I have been busy with repairs at Gryphon Stringed Instruments, this guitar project is a huge honor and has pushed me back into guitar making mode. .school.of.luthiery
