Press Statement: Oxford Blues Festival Cancellation

It is with deep sadness that I must announce the cancellation of the 13th Oxford Blues Festival. We had hoped to bring the community together again this year, but circumstances have made it impossible.

Last week, I underwent spinal surgery at the Orthopedic Institute in Hattiesburg, MS. While the surgery was successful and has already improved my mobility—some of you may recall seeing me at last year's festival, walking with a limp and a cane—I underestimated the toll this procedure would take on my body. The recovery process is more demanding than I anticipated, and I need time to fully heal.

We remain hopeful and optimistic about returning next year, stronger than ever. For those who have already purchased tickets, please know that full refunds will be issued promptly.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I look forward to seeing you all at future events, walking tall and cane-free.

Anthony “Big A” Sherrod is a current bluesman that regularly in town. His natural showmanship that moves and plays with tremendous fun and passion personifies that one can hear authentic music in Clarksdale today… that is as good as it ever was historically. At present Anthony has a weekly residence at Red’s Lounge, the famous authentic juke joint in Clarksdale’s historic downtown Arts & Culture District.
